illumend is the name myCOI has traded under since May 2025, and its review listings were renamed with it. The headline score holds up: 4.7 out of 5 across 47 reviews on Capterra and Software Advice. The catch is the dates. Every one of those reviews was written between March 2022 and December 2024, before the AI-led product launched, so the rating describes the staffed myCOI service rather than the illumend platform you would buy today. G2 lists 37 reviews on its myCOI seller page. We have no reviews of our own on these directories and do not publish a rating for COISoftware.
A 4.7 is a real signal. It is also a signal about a specific product at a specific time, and three facts about these reviews change how much weight it should carry in a 2026 buying decision.
illumend launched on 6 May 2025 with Lumie, an AI engine that makes the compliance decision. The newest review on the Capterra and Software Advice listings is dated December 2024. None of the 47 reviewers used Lumie, because it did not exist yet.
The recurring compliments are about responsive support, account managers and experts who review certificates for you. illumend now publishes that the AI decides by default and that added human oversight is a subscription package option, so the most praised part of the old service is no longer the default.
Sorted by date, 19 of the 25 most recent Capterra reviews were posted between 17 March and 11 May 2023. A cluster like that usually follows a customer review drive, which is normal practice, but it means the score is largely a snapshot of spring 2023.
The newest review, from a construction operations manager in December 2024, is one star and describes a company that was hard to work with and a system that was a mess. It is a single voice against 46, and it is also the only one written in the last two and a half years.
G2 shows 37 reviews on its myCOI seller page. Buyers searching the new name land on marketing pages instead, which is why this page exists: the only illumend review data is myCOI review data.
None of this means the reviews are wrong. It means they answer a narrower question than the one a buyer is asking. They tell you how myCOI customers felt about a service-led product in 2022 and 2023, and they say those customers liked the people a great deal. They cannot tell you how Lumie handles your certificates, how fast a decision comes back, or what the price looks like, because illumend publishes no price and its pricing URL returns a 404. The themes below recur across the Capterra and Software Advice reviews. Sub-scores are from the combined listing: ease of use 4.6, customer support 4.7, value for money 4.8, functionality 4.6.
The most repeated compliment by a wide margin. Reviewers from real estate, education and construction describe a support team that is available and follows through, often naming an account manager.
Several reviewers describe handing certificate review to myCOI staff, one under the title "Leave it to the experts". That was the Concierge model. Under illumend, human oversight is something you add to the package.
A single place where vendors, agents and your team upload and see status, replacing inboxes and shared drives. This is the core job of any COI platform and reviewers say myCOI did it well.
Construction reviewers value seeing insurance notes and compliance status inside Procore. Procore is still the one integration illumend names explicitly on its site.
The most common complaint is finding things: limited filters, no standard naming for uploaded certificates, and bulk download that is awkward when an auditor wants everything at once.
Reviewers note that customizing insurance requirements is limited, that the interface takes time to learn, and that reviews can take longer than expected after an upload.
Read those two lists together and a pattern shows. The strengths were human (support, expert review) and the weaknesses were software (search, customization, speed). The May 2025 relaunch reversed the emphasis: an AI now reviews every certificate and decides, and people are the optional layer. That may well fix the speed complaint. Four questions that turn a 2023 rating into a 2026 answer.
Any reference from before the relaunch describes the service the reviews already cover. Ask specifically for a customer who started on illumend with Lumie deciding, in your industry and at roughly your vendor count.
Tip: If the vendor can only offer long-tenured customers, that is useful information in itself.
Ask whether your quote includes human oversight or Lumie decisions only, and what the added oversight package costs. The reviews praise the people; make sure the people are in what you are buying if that is why you are buying.

The speed complaint is the one the AI relaunch most plausibly fixed. Send a messy certificate with an attached endorsement and measure how long a compliance decision takes to come back.

The most consistent complaint was finding and exporting documents. In any demo, ask to pull every certificate for one vendor and bulk export a project folder, then watch how many clicks it takes.

If your quote includes the added human oversight package, you are buying something close to what 47 reviewers rated 4.7, and the support scores are a fair guide. That is a genuine strength and it is rare in the category. Teams that want an outside party reading every endorsement, and have the budget for it, should take those reviews at face value.
Construction reviewers are the largest group on the listing and they rate the Procore connection highly. illumend still names Procore as its integration. If your subcontractor compliance lives inside Procore projects, that history counts for something.
illumend states that it serves construction, commercial real estate, retail and franchise, utilities, government, manufacturing, transportation and healthcare, and describes managing tens of millions of insurance documents. If you want to judge the AI itself, the reviews are silent. If you are a smaller team that wants to see a price before a call, they are silent there too. In both cases the faster evidence is a test on your own certificates, which is what the tool at the top of this page does. It launched under the illumend name on 6 May 2025, mycoitracking.com now redirects to illumend.ai, and the directory listings that used to say myCOI now carry the illumend name with the same reviews.
