Network Analyst

iSNMP Suite v4 incorporates a new and powerful network analysis engine. iSNMP Network Analyst gathers the raw SNMP data from your network devices, and computes meaningful network analysis that you can display in your OPC client application. For example, a speedometer can convert the raw number of revolutions of the car's tires into a more meaningful statistic: speed. Additionally, an automobile's dashboard contains warning lights to alert the driver to problems with the car's internal systems. iSNMP Network Analyst provides a similar service to the industrial Ethernet network user. Now even a Ethernet novice can get a simple red light/ yellow light/ green light summary of overall network health, and useful derived network monitoring information, not just raw counters and statistics with no meaningful context. Unprocessed SNMP data needs an network expert to interpret—let iSNMP Network analyst be your tireless network guru.

MIB Template Generator

There are literally thousands of SNMP-manageable devices available. To make sure that iSNMP users can easily incorporate management information from any SNMP-manageable device they encounter, COI Software has developed an iSNMP MIB template utility. Simply open the MIB file for the manageable device from within the iSNMP MIB template generator, and you can easily map network device MIB addresses to iSNMP tag names. Once a template has been created, iSNMP's Auto-discovery tool will recognize the network device, and automatically pre-build the OPC tag name database for you the next time!.

Unmanaged Device Support

iSNMP offers an OSI Layer 1 device "heartbeat" feature for any Ethernet network device. Device response and reply latency tags are created for all network devices by iSNMP, and are made available to HMI client applications via the iSNMP OPC Server.

Auto-Discovery

iSNMP Suite includes a new timesaving feature: Auto-Discovery! Simply by pressing the Auto-Discover button in iSNMP Editor, this powerful tool will search through your Ethernet network for SNMP-manageable network devices and iSNMP RMON probes. Once the tool has discovered all the manageable devices and probes, you can choose to add them to your iSNMP monitoring system with the click of a button. If the device is one of the many manageable devices or RMON probes already defined in iSNMP, the software will pre-build the entire SNMP tag database for the device(s), as explained below.

SNMP Traps Support

Some SNMP-manageable devices can be configured to send unsolicited data to network management software systems such as iSNMP. By configuring an SNMP device to send data without being "polled" such as when a critical system tag goes into an unfavorable state, you can reduce the need for "polling" the network device. iSNMP v4 supports receiving SNMP Trap data.

Communicator/DataViewer

Communicator_icon-32x32iSNMP Communicator is an iSNMP Suite read/write utility that operates independently of your OPC client application. This powerful tool simplifies the process of starting up and troubleshooting your SNMP monitoring system. When initially developing the iSNMP Suite database, the iSNMP DataViewer allows the system programmer to view the SNMP tag data in real time, without having to develop screens in the GUI. This ensures the developer that network SNMP data communications are taking place and helps to reduce system driver checkout and trouble-shooting time.

Pre-built Tag Databases

iSNMP Suite includes pre-built tags for many popular SNMP-manageable devices and our new iSNMP RMON probes. If you are communicating to a supported device or probe, you only have to designate the IP address of the network devices that you wish to communicate to, and IndustrialSNMP Suite will automatically populate your system with a list of logically named system tags. These pre-defined tags have been researched by INS and are the most critical tags to monitor to verify network system health. You do not need to be an Ethernet or SNMP network guru to build a tag database that includes the information most critical to system performance. Users who want additional tags that are not part of the pre-built tag database only have to define the additional SNMP address of the MIB data in iSNMP Editor, or import the MIB data via the new iSNMP MIB template utility, and they are done!

Custom SNMP Device Support

Want to add a device that is not part of the pre-defined device list shown? No problem! Using the Microsoft® Windows Explorer-style tag browser interface, just define the new device, enter the IP address and the SNMP data address, and assign an OPC tag name. Using this custom SNMP device ability, you can import data from any SNMP-manageable device in a matter of minutes!

IndustrialSNMP Suite is protected by U.S. Patent No. 6,728,262.
